This story was beautiful. It had a little bit of everything. I enjoy this series so much. I couldn't put it down. Please continue with the great storytelling.

Isla McRae is living in Creede, Colorado and working at her brother’s restaurant. She fell in love in Scotland with a local boy, but his father had no use for her as she wasn’t from a well-connected and rich family like his. So Isla decided to leave Scotland with her siblings and head to America and out west for a better life.Asa Young is in the mining business and is the foreman of one of the local mines. He’s been in love with Isla for a couple years, but hasn’t had the nerve to ask her out or to tell her his feelings to see if she feels the same way. With the upcoming town celebration, he decides to take a chance and escort her to the celebration. As they start to spend more time together, they realize they both are attracted to each other. But Isla’s past is keeping her from expressing herself to Asa as she feels he will desert her as well. But then she realizes he’s the foreman of the mine and so he isn’t from money and he has been seen around town with her. So what happens when she finds out he’s not the foreman but also the owner of the mine as well? Will she change her mind and not see him again so she doesn’t get her heart broken twice.Can these two overcome their pasts and their heartbreak and learn to love each other. Will Isla’s Angel mom help her to see what she is missing out on if she lets Asa go?I enjoyed this story. It shows that even though you have gone through heartache, you can open your heart up a second time to love. I’m looking forward to seeing how the cousins make out in their search for husbands. I recommend this book.

Isla MacRae has sworn off love after being lead on by a man at home in Scotland, then told she's not good enough by his father just before he married another. Now in Creede with her remaining family, she is the only one still unwed.Asa Young secretly owns the mine where he acts as foreman and is very taken with Isla. But while she is friendly with him, she hasn't truly noticed his interest, nor truthfully her own in him.Mam MacRae promised four nearly destitute girls, cousins from good families, that if they followed her to Creede, she would find them husbands. Then she appears to Isla, enlisting her help with the task. Protecting the most delicate of the girls from an unscrupulous man leads Asa to believe she isn't interested, but when she explains, he understands what had truly happened. Trouble comes their way when he admits he owns his mine, and Isla fears he'll break her heart like the man in Scotland had. Then work their way through that dilemma, but then the rains come... hard.

I love this series and this book is another family reunion in more ways than one. After 36 books the citizens of Creede and Bachelor are family and Mama M visiting her daughter, Isla, is definitely appropriate. I love the descriptions of Mam and her interactions with the family. Jo Noelle has managed to bring us a story with romance, humor, strong story line and a few twists. A totally enjoyable book. I hope I don't keep my guardian angel as busy as the people of Creede do theirs.

Reading about how their Mam became their guardian angel made this family of books so enjoyable! I am so glad Isla finally found her happily ever after!Jo Noelle books are superbly written, sometimes amusing, always heartfelt. I highly recommend this book!

I loved watching Isla and Asa, with the fun help of Mama M, work though their self imposed restraints and find where they are supposed to be! This story kept me reading from beginning to end, without putting it down!!! Truly a great read!!

This book was so good, it was fun , scarey, and exciting. Asa and Isla were wonderful, the mama took care of everyone. I think She was the best. Thank you. Jo Noelle.

Very impressive and well put together book. First sections explain the basic notations and what they are, so a beginner can start learning how to read drum notation in this book. Next the notations are put together in 2 bar phrases as examples. These examples are recorded on the CD, so you can read the examples and at the same time hear what they should sound like, giving the reader a audio example of what he/she is reading. May be old news for those that already have a grasp on chart reading, but it is extremely helpful for someone starting out. There is a total of 26 of these examples/lessons, before you get to the actual play-alongs, so from that perspective this is a great tool to help any drummer that wants to learn how to read drum charts, or anyone looking to improve their reading ability.Then there are the 40 play-along songs, all original instrumentals that are actually very good in their own right. Someone who likes instrumental music and is not a musician would simply enjoy having this as listening music. Very good quality recordings with top notch studio musicians. You get the full band mix, and then the same recording without the drums. The drumless tracks include a cowbell click through the entire song.There are 4-5 different songs for each genre, with Fusion having the most tracks: total of 8. The quality of the recordings, the musician ship of the players that perform these instrumental songs, and the compositions themselves are very good. (Actually some of the best play-alongs out there today). Some songs are easier, and some more difficult. And then a few from the Jazz, and Brazilian sections that will require a pretty serious mastery of your 4 way independence to even attempt, at least if you follow the notations from the book.Overall the book is a great tool to have for drummers of all levels, but to give fair warning: if you are a drummer who has played for some time and is just now starting to learn how to read, this is the beginner I am referring to in my review that will be challenged by the music, and this is a great learning tool for you. IF you are a beginner just starting out learning how to play drums and how to read drum notation, I would not recommend this specific book, there are other books better suited for those just starting out in the drum world.Having said that, for drummers with at least a solid year of playing, this is a wonderful tool to have as a learning resource. I highly recommend it.If you are a beginner drummer most of these instrumentals will be a HUGE challenge for you, intermediate players will find these instrumentals very challenging. I'm a guitarist/bassist trying to expand my horizons. I have been taking drumset lessons for 5 months and although I received wonderful advice from my instructor something was missing. I ordered this book not really sure of what to expect and has made a huge difference in my learning. Its stated goal of making you better at reading drumset scores is just the beginning. I really like that the author shows you everything he does in the "performance" version of each of the 40 songs as I have learned many "little" things that give structure to the song. By the way, these recordings are top notch and the songs are totally enjoyable even to just listen to them. So if you can read music this book is a no-brainer. If you can't read music this can be a great tool to motivate you / make you practice your reading skills.

Great book! Well put together. The tracks are well done. i enjoyed playing through these tunes and I'm having my students get this book. Totally worth it! Great for getting into chart reading and playing different styles. Great musicianship on the tracks.

I love this book! kudos to Cristiano Micalizzi for putting together such a well organized, informative and comprehensive set of play-along charts and tracks for drum set. I use this book with all of my private and college students.

Overall well put together and overall fine for rock/funk/blues, BUT the cowbell click is so loud in the jazz tunes it covers up the bass, let alone playing jazz to a loud cowbell click at all!

When I was reading this book, I was quite shocked to see that when I reached page 89, the following page was 119. The book skipped 33 entire pages. Not only that, but after reading pages 119-150, they REPEATED pages 119-150. So, not only was I missing 33 pages, but 41 pages were repeated in the space of my missing pages. A huge chunk of the book was missing, not even having been ripped out, but the book was bound like that. The content I was able to read was very interesting, although nothing new to any other books I've read about Helen Keller and Annie Sullivan.

In 1887, Annie Sullivan (age 20) goes to Alabama to try to teach Helen Keller (age 6, who is deaf and blind) how to communicate. Told from Annie's point of view, it talks about her struggles before moving to Alabama from Massachusetts, and what her life was like before she had surgery to restore her own eyesight. Helen proves very difficult to teach. Her family has spoiled her and inadvertently reinforced that crying and being physically violent is the way to get what she wants, because they can't bear to see her upset. It is mostly a story about frustration, emotional turmoil, and feeling defeated; however, it has a bright ending, as we already know the outcome of Annie Sullivan's time spent teaching Helen Keller.I like how each chapter begins with an except from actual letters written by Annie Sullivan, documenting her challenges and time spent with Helen Keller.I would probably recommend this novel to girls. It's major themes are perseverance and success in the face of adversity, and accepting others who are different or have a handicap.

Twenty-year-old, half-blind, fiery tempered Annie Sullivan is on her way to Tuscumbia, Alabama to teach six-year-old Helen Keller, who has been deaf, blind, and mute from the young age of 19 months. After she arrives in Tuscumbia, Annie meets Helen's kindly, but desperate mother, Kate Keller.After Annie's first encounter with her obstinate little pupil, she is unsure whether she can breakthrough to Helen. After her first lesson, Helen does not seem to understand that d-o-l-l means the word "doll." Kate seems disappointed, but Annie assures her that it is natural for her daughter not to relize the meaning yet, though Annie feels a bit the same as Kate.Next, Annie wants to teach Helen obedience. Because her parents can't stand to punish her, Helen has remained a tyrant for almost five years. Annie is sure that with a firm hand, she can teach her student how to behave. But her first attemp comes to an abrupt halt after Helen knocks out on of Annie's teeth. Only pain keeps her from continuing the lesson.Now Annie is intent on breaking Helen's appalling table manners. First, she muster enough courage to discpline Helen in front of her employers. After along battle over teaching her pupil to eat from her own plate with a spoon, and fold her own napkin, Annie breaks down.Annie is sure that it is useless for to teach Helen language or anything else under the Kellers' spectical eyes. She asks that Kellers if she and Helen can live somewhere else with. The Kellers consent to letting the pair live in the small garden house where Helen was born. After a few weeks, Annie manages to teach Helen manners, but not that everytime she spells something to Helen that it is the name of an object, tought, or idea. Annie is disappointed when the Kellers insist on having their daughter back, but she has no choice.After the two go back to the main house, Helen begins to act up. Annie knows that she must discipline Helen, but she is afraid that it might get her fired. When she does try to punish Helen, Helen's father, Captain Keller, does not agree with her methods. Annie is infuriated, and explodes in rage. Luckily, Helen's doting aunt, Ev, convinces Annie to stay, and Annie does.Annie is still trying to break into Helen's silent night, but she is afraid that she is not experienced enough to do the job. Will Annie breakthrough to Helen, or will she become a failure, and Helen live an empty life? Buy the book and read it, and you will find the word that changed world history.The cover also has the title in Braille. Bought this along with narration for a reading project in 8th grade social studies. The book is good the narrative is horribly slow and my kids struggled listening to it.

Who doesn't like a story of resilience and persistence along with a strong dose of empathy! Anne Sullivan met a small version of herself. She may have been the only one on the planet that could ever have reached Helen!

If you've watched the movie, you've "read" the book. The kids in my class loved it, but I was unimpressed.

This book is very affirming of women as natural healers. I have recommended it to other women.

I had this book years ago and got it again................I am not into her thinking of spiritual issues but her understanding of the body, with spirit and needs for healing are very good. I recommend reading it, for women who need to address female health issues outside of western medicine.

I have been doing book signings and rice cooker demonstrations for years. I love cooking a rice cooker meal in a bookstore. The mouth-watering aroma fills the whole store from front to back. If you like "Cajun Cooking", you will like the recipes in this cookbook ... please note the recipes are developed using the "old style" rice cooker ... the ones I have tried in the "new style" (Sanyo) rice cooker did not turn out well ... less water is required when using the "new style" rice cooker ... I'm still working on a conversion ... the recipes I have tried using the "old style" rice cooker turned out great and were very good ... but the recipes are great even if you decide to cook them in a standard pot using the stove top ... RPH

If you like Cajun food this is the book for you! The sauce piquant recipes and crawfish and shrimp recipes are amazing!! Cabbage rolls used to take all day to make and now I use the cabbage casserole recipe to make it easier. This is the only recipe book where I have actually made and loved 75% of the recipes. And they all use simple ingredients that I keep in stock already. Nothing fancy I have to buy!! I know it sounds weird to use a rice cooker for meals but this is like a crockpot that cooks in 45min or less. If you have a fancy rice cooker you need to use the rice setting, not slow cook. And if it says to cook for a certain time then I set my timer and stop the rice cooker after that so the shrimp are not overdone.My family likes meals with substance and not just rice. This book also has a lot of recipes with potatoes instead of rice. The fajita chicken stuffed baked potato recipe is great! And it just uses frozen French fries for the potato part. It doesn't get much easier than that!!This is the perfect book for someone who loves to crockpot but wants their meal done in 45 min or less! I wish I was paid or given some compensation for this review , but sadly not. My aunt gave it to me years ago and my friends are always asking where to buy it.

I was hoping that this book would have "from scratch" recipes. Instead, it uses so many canned and packaged mixes that the food becomes more of a chemical cocktail than a meal.

I wasn't sure I'd be able to get the hang of using rice cooker for anything but rice. But as soon as this book arrived I read it from cover to cover and could hardly wait to try his recipes. This book is a little gem. With a little imagination you can easily adjust ingredients to make your recipes more spicy, less spicy, beef instead of chicken, broth instead of canned tomatoes with chiles, less butter, etc. etc. This is a no brainer. To some people it might look too plain but that's fine with me. It's just a good, easy to follow, minimum preparation, delicious collection of recipes, some of which are typical of louisiana cooking....which is what the author himself did not dispute. I have never used as many recipes out of any cookbook I own..and I own a lot!!! I'm currently going through all the recipes but so far my favorites are Shrimp Jambalaya, Black Eyed Peas & Sausage Jambalaya, Tex-Mex Pasta, Chicken fried rice, and Mexican Rice. There are also soup recipes, yams, potato and cabbage recipes but haven't tried these yet. Mr Bertrand I'm anxiously waiting for your next cookbook, if there is one, but in the meantime thanks for this one!

My latest "kick" is rice cookers. I learned you can make entire delicious meals in them, not just cook rice. This cookbook makes rice cooking/entire meals easy. It's mostly a Cajun cookbook but you'll find many delicious other recipes too. I had a question, emailed the author, and he actually emailed me back with the answer!! Recipes are for 8 to 10 cup On/Off/Warm rice cookers, not for fuzzy logic cookers. Rice cooker recipes can be made in the fuzzy logic cookers but adjustments would have to be made. I'm also experimenting using olive oil instead of butter and the author has been helpful with that. I HIGHLY recommend this rice cooker cookbook for On/Off/Warm ricer cookers.

It was handy to tell me the different types of rice and how they are cooked but that was where the helpfulness ended. The meals seemed quite involved for a book that states "Fast home cooking for busy people" and it just wasn't that helpful. I guess some people might find it useful but to me I had to do too many adaptations to find it necessary.

I didn't find any of the recipes appitizing enough to want to try. Only ordered the kindle addition and the paging is messed up. Titles for recipes on bottom of page before it and such. Its ok, but wish I hadn't spent the 3 dollars on it.

This book is chock full of one-pot-meals that you can prepare and cook in your Rice Cooker appliance. Jambalayas, casseroles, pastas, soups, potatoes. Yum. And if you are into spicy foods this is definitely the book for you. Lots of Mexican, Italian and Cajun cooking. And after each recipe there are reviews from people who have tried it and gave their opinions and alternate suggestions.
