I love Pride and Prejudice, but I have to admit I'd pretty much figured that one parody (Pride & Prejudice & Zombies) was all I could handle. I was wrong. In fact, I wish I'd read this one first and skipped Zombies altogether. Not to drag out the comparison, but Zombies was a one-trick pony, and this hilarious little gem is a riot from start to finish. The author makes unabashed and irreverent fun of one of literature's most beloved classics, but he does it with a wink and a nod that also convey a respect for the source material. He uses play-on words, puns, and a stripping away of all character veneer to get down to the sheer humor in all the book's situations to deliver a laugh a minute without ever devolving into roll-your-eyes silliness. Smart, well-written, and funny. I think even Austen would have laughed.
Jane Austen fans will laugh through Pied & Prodigious. D.M. Andrews had gone scene-by-scene through the familiar masterpiece and turned it on its head. The comedy of manners now focuses on tall hats, height and notable lack of accomplishment. Lizzy is lamentably unattractive as she is too short and a flurry of prodigious accomplishments. Mr. Dicey, of the tall hat and Pied suit, is the fashionable man of means (AKA a vast wardrobe). From the vampire de Bore to the Blingley siblings, all the Austen characters are transformed. It's a hoot!
If you don't know Pride and Prejudice (really? Have you been living under a rock?) read it first; you can't appreciate this parody unless you know what is being made fun of. The author has taken the Austen story and stood it on its head, to hilarious effect. I didn't just grin, sometimes I laughed out loud. I believe some thought this was disrespectful to the original author; I'd look at it more as similar to what Weird Al does with music videos, the original must be both good in its way, and well-known, else the joke would be lost.
Very true to the original novel and oh so very funny with the changes she made. I spent a great deal of time giggling and enjoyed it tremendously.
It's cute, follows the general story. An abundance of puns and plays on phrases. Diverting, would be silly if one wasn't steeped in the original.
I found the irreverence just right in this take on the Jane Austen classic. If you enjoyed the original, but thought that it was ripe for satire, then this is for you.
Absolutely hilarious! Loved it!
All of the "cutsie" names and references got on to be too much. By the end of the first chapter I could NOT read any further. Good thing that this travesty did not cost very much. Jane Austin should not be messed with by someone who THINKS they are funny.

I lived in New York for over a decade and consider myself a food truck fan but hadn't even heard of many of the trucks profiled in New York A La Cart. This book is a fascinating look at the people behind many popular New York food trucks as well as their specialties and recipes. I made the Korean BBQ nachos from Kimchi Taco Truck and they were quite delicious (and easily tweaked). I love how varied the recipes here are, and the diverse New York stories. I no longer live in New York so I'm grateful for the chance to cook up some of these treats myself and have a list of trucks I want to try when I am back in town. From grilled cheese and ice cream to dosa and dumplings and much more, this is a fun cookbook/culinary tour of New York from some of its best food bloggers (Blondie and Brownie). Worth checking out whether you're near New York or not.
This book represents the essence of NY, I.e. it's people...the cuisine, especially "street" cuisine! You just simply can not visit NEW YORK without trying some deliciousness from a food trunk or street vendor.For me, touring/sightseeing, shopping & taking in a few Broadway plays is really great. But, the STREET FOOD is the rage! Yes, I love dining at fabulous NY restaurants, but when I see the vendors & food trucks...I KNOW my taste buds are in for a delightful experience for an AFFORDABLE price...the CREATIVE meals are going to sing its own PRAISE. I'm so elated this book was published...it's a WINNER. The recipes are DELICIOUS and the stories are very inspiring! I'm so glad I happened upon this treasure book for food trucks. ;-DI'm hoping that there will be MORE editions! My girlfriend would love to see PORTLAND & SEATTLE represented! :-D
Wow! I did not know about vending trucks at all. And the receipes, well I rather find the truck. But, it's good to have them! You'll ever race to get in the business or start eating all over and outside in New York. Terrific. I appreciate their struggle and gave the book to a grad foodie student. Who brought it into her class and They loved it. Guess I will have to buy another. Thank you!

Go to any major town or city and invariably there will be some caravan or cart dispensing food to a passing public. Of course, the quality can vary and some are rather transient in nature. Yet many can be effectively permanent structures in a city, with a history and a reputation to match.New Yorkers are particularly well served by various food carts and whether you are a native New Yorker or just a curious foodie you can, with this book, read about some of the best food cart vendors and even have a go making some of their key dishes. Being a cart vendor is not something to be sneezed at - many people have given up high-flying careers to hit the street and start selling food. Some of these interesting tales are served up from this very thick, richly-illustrated book. Good food, good stories - what else could you ask for?You can treat this book as a tourist guide too - the carts are listed by their geographic presence and even many of the outer boroughs are featured. As well as the detailed "per cart" listings, an overview by location and contact information is given at the end of the book, along with a sourcing guide, further reading suggestions and a detailed index.To this reviewer, this was a book that was so much more than just a listing of food carts. It was a series of 50 different mini stories, a range of cultural and sociological history, a snapshot of New York that perhaps not many native New Yorkers or tourists alike really get to share. One wonders how many locals really know the history of their local food carts, for example. The recipes are a bonus, but perhaps one has missed something if one has not been lucky enough to try the food direct from the cart and could savour up the atmosphere, its ambience and real aroma!. A recipe can be recreated, an atmosphere can not. That said, the recipes themselves are easy to follow, quite detailed despite the relative shortage of space and the all-critical assembly instructions should help you polish things up at the end. It would have been nice to have had an approximation of preparation and cooking times and more international measures, but these are minor niggles in the grand scheme of things.The book's design is relatively good and some very engaging photography has been employed, yet one just feels that something else could have been done. The book is very good as it is, yet it feels like just a dish when you know it is nice but a bit of seasoning with "something" would just make a great thing even greater, yet you are incapable of putting your finger on what that "something is". At first this reviewer was sceptical to the overall appeal of this book if you have no plans to be in New York, that uncertainty soon passed. If you like street food, like learning about food and maybe even recreating a bit of it at home, this book can still be a great little extra thing to consider!

This book was an absolute waste and an insult to my intelligence. The author doesn’t mention anything actually specific to Crypto; it’s like he copy/pasted from a ‘Technical Analysis for Dummies.’ It takes all of about 20 min to read. I mean geez - look at the cover. That’s not even what an crypto address/key looks like!
This is a great book for any crypto beginner to have in their arsenal. This is an easy read and helps explain crypto charting in a digestive way. I enjoyed this book and really fell like everyone who is serious about putting money into crypto should read this book. This book focuses on charting. I don't think this should be the first book someone reads about cryptocurrency but it should be read before anyone starts investing significant amounts of money into crypto. Thanks Chris! Hope to see another book from you soon.
