The book has 297 pages of which the first 80 pages are a general intro inc. electric vehicle history, 81 to 259 is an overview of the technical aspects in general that you will need to understand. Page 260, chapter 11 is entitled 'Electric vehicle conversion' ... Personally I would have put this first because this is an overview/introduction of what we really want to know and after reading this I understand the value of pages 81 to 259.I don't think you will be able to carry out a conversion after reading this book ... but it can get you started. The book was published first in 1994 so when it states "TODAY'S BEST CONTROLLER SOLUTION" ... well ..... things have moved on.And although it is not yet plug and play to convert to EV you actually won't need the all the mathematics and physics of this book.Cost me $2 used and in good condition ... worth buying it? YES.

The first edition has saved me much heartache in my building a converted vehicle. I used the basic schematic for laying out the system (with slight modification, being I don't use a DC/DC charger for my 12VDC low volt system). As for the technical aspects, we as a 'modern tech society' I think too often that we must 'have it all handed to us' and sometimes an author realizes that people working with such tech, will have to research other sources for more in depth study. I would hope ANYONE going into even thinking of converting an ICE to an EV, would plan on learning a lot of math, formulae, some battery chemistry, have a basic understanding of physical principles and be ready to study a whole lotta 'lectronics! But the end result is in my mind that you continue to learn and study... We are at a critical juncture in society, the world condition and this field of EV conversion/building technology. Thomas Freidman made the comment recently,"We need all kinds of people in their garages working on this (EV, green-hybrid) technology!" (my paraphrase). And Bob Brandt's book, is the book that set me forward. There are many other books appearing and that are selling for a couple hundred dollars! And that want you to buy this or that or subscribe to this ideology or 'set of facts'... THIS BOOK, is 'well this is what ya do here...', plain and simple it lays out an outline of what you need to do and consider. Buy THIS BOOK! And you won't be sorry, of course it will be the first of many....

This book is pretty good. It covers the basics of EV building. My main issue with it is that it has become woefully out of date. In the years since it was published, controllers, batteries and motors have all changed for the better. The EVs you could build with this book are too old-school.I am all for the home builder doing their thing, its just that this book needs some updates and links to where you can find the best new controllers, motors, batteries out on the web. If you were wondering what it would take to convert that old 4 banger car into an EV vehicle this book will get you started in the right direction basically.From there you can probably find what you are looking for out on the web. So its a decent source, just realize its a bit dated.Thanks for reading my review.

I picked up this book because I was curious. I am a car guy who loves working on his cars, and loves motor sports, especially dirt track racing. I am probably not the target audience for this book.Still, my thinking on ecology has been seriously challenged by my Church (I am Catholic, and Vatican City State is the world's first carbon neutral country, and the Pope has been adamant about our duty to be good stewards of the planet). This has challenged my thinking. Also, the national security implications of our addiction to foreign oil has also challenged my thinking. I have decided it is time to begin the process of weaning myself and my family off of fossil fuels. After composting and planting a garden, making the house more energy efficient, and adopting a generally more green lifestyle, this is the next step.I dug into this book, and loved much of it. However, it is in desperate need of a competent editor, and may be a little difficult to wade through as a result, but the content is excellent and is there for you if you are willing to dig a bit.Let me address the strengths of this excellent book first:1) The section on the history of the electric car, its technology, and its strengths and weaknesses is comprehensive and very convincing. I was somewhat skeptical at first but after reading this book I am convinced that a) electric cars are the wave of the future, b) my concerns about them were largely misplaced, c) it is probably my patriotic duty to drive one, both because I love the US and support Israel, and d) the environment, and our pocketbooks, NEED us to move away from the internal combustion engine.2) The mathematical sections, while difficult to wade through and in desperate need of a good educator/editor to make the material more understandable, are actually quite strong if you really stick to them. However, there is so much help out there on line now that you really don't need to do any of these mathematical formulations. Kits for conversion are now commercially available and there are experts out there willing to answer questions for free. This book needed an editor to keep reminding the authors to "keep it simple, stupid."3) This topic is just fascinating, and it would be difficult for any remotely competent author to mess it up.4) Despite what you may think about complexity, EV's are actually REALLY simple and elegant, and you are not being made obsolete and you are NOT being forced to hang up your ratchets. This is a big deal for some guys. After all, as is so eloquently pointed out in Shop Class as Soulcraft: An Inquiry Into the Value of Work car manufacturers and others are busy designing products that "hide the works" in an almost blatant attempt to keep people ignorant and divorced from their machines. This is as unnecessary as it is stupid. The electric car predates the internal combustion car, and is what Mrs. Henry Ford drove (I am not kidding). You can relatively easily build one yourself on a used chassis (any used car... preferably light). You can do this with little or no mechanical experience. When you see how easy it is by going on line and looking at the work others have done, and start experimenting yourself, you will get VERY angry at car companies for not getting this right sooner. It really is impossible to understand how it has taken so long for car companies to wake up to the fact that we NEED EVs.Weaknesses:1) The future of the EV, as other reviewers have pointed out, is NOT likely to be DC (unless perhaps one is drag racing). If you want mileage, and the ability to get up hills well, I think AC motors are superior (and yes... more expensive). The data are clear however, and GM has put its (umm... our?) money in the AC camp with the new Volt, and there is a reason for that. There is not enough information here on AC.2) Really... how expensive is it to hire an editor? I mean, mistaking "then" with "than" over and over again in the mathematics section made me distrust the fact that these guys had their math right. Learn to use the English language correctly, and if you are not strong in this area, HIRE AN EDITOR. This isn't some self produced book either. Its McGraw Hill! Exactly who was responsible to sit these boys down and say: "this section is entirely unnecessary... these words and misspelled.... this book would be more user friendly if..." The editing is abominable, and is a real drawback. The standards of editing are similar with what you see on online reviews like this one. This is not a good thing. Someone who edited for the "For Dummies" series could have turned this into a world class book. Instead, it is a 3 star book. That is a shame.3) The strength of the EV is that it is simple, has fewer moving parts, is therefore very reliable, and is very good for the planet. I enjoy turning the ratchets... I do not enjoy doing oil changes. I won't miss them when they are gone. The strength of the EV is it is easy to understand, and that you can work on it yourself very easily, even build one from scratch with little mechanical experience. Simplicity is a strength. The book is too complex, introduces unnecessary concepts (like mathematical formulas.. which while fun will slow you down), and is therefore unlikely to appeal to guys who can do this conversion with their eyes closed. I am referring here to the countless shade tree/home garage techs who do their own brakes, do their own oil, watch NASCAR, love cars because they are CARS, and enjoy turning ratchets. This is who I am, but I needed the college degree I sometimes think I wasted my money on to get through some of this book. There was no reason for that.Still, I strongly recommend this book. It educated me on how EVs work, and I am planning my own conversion. After reading this book, and doing some additional research, I understand how the new hybrids work, how the new VOLT will work, and I understand that I can still work on my cars and enjoy them even if they are electric. This is VERY important, and something I hope the car companies get right. It would be very easy for them to get this wrong... introduce a "solid state" car or something ludicrous. I hope to heck they don't do this. If they do, I will be only driving my own aftermarket conversions from now on.

So be careful because yes they will/may rip if you're turning too fast. Yes markers and highlighters will bleed through. I used a special non-bleed through bible highlighter and it still showed through.

I purchased this NIV Bible through a recommendation that this version was easier to understand. I was brought up Catholic, but I am in no way a devout follower. Lately I have wanted to read the Bible in its entirety to better understand Christianity and it’s basis so that I may strengthen my faith. I can honestly say that this is the most beautiful Bible I have ever held. The drawings are lovely and inspiring, and the translation is stunningly fluid. I appreciate the space to write, and the thinness of the pages doesn’t bother me. Although it’s not “Catholic approved”, I have no problem reading this Bible if it makes me want to learn and grow. I just started and already I don’t want to put it down. It reads like a favorite story. Thank you.

Received my copy this afternoon (Woo, 2-day Prime shipping!) and I already love it! The illustrations are so beautiful and really do bring the words to life. I was originally searching for a Bible that had wide margins for note-taking only, but I stumbled upon these and fell in love! I like that the pages are bright white and ever so slightly thicker than traditional "onion skin" Bible pages. I have used my Prismacolor pencils to color a page and they work beautifully! They show up nice and bright and don't show through on the other side. Also, the book itself is very attractive without the dust jacket! It features a verse from Psalms on the front and title is only printed on the side, which I prefer; I didn't like that some of the other available creative Bibles had "My Coloring Bible" emblazoned across the front. Makes you feel kinda silly. :PAll-in-all, this is a great purchase! The price is unbelievable and the product is beautiful. However, be warned that the print in this Bible is VERY SMALL and some of the illustrations have incredibly small lettering that may be difficult to color.

The BEST read audio Bible, in my opinion. David Suchet uses small variations in tone and volume to capture the feeling of the text. He reads beautifully. For American speakers, his British accent might not appeal. I am also an American speaker, but find it wonderful. There is no music, no drama, just beautiful and meaningful reading.David Suchet became a believer in Jesus at age 40, and has said this project is his legacy to the glory of God. Well done, David. Well done! Even Hercule Poirot could not find fault with this presentation.

I loved this series of books, all set on the same little town in Louisiana. They are best, fun and best of all, interconnected. Nash and Vivi, Maddie and Zeke, Trish and Mason and finally, David and Magenta, are four of the most interesting couples I've read about in the past couple of months. They're exciting, vibrant, colorful and full on fantastic. The guys are all full alphas who don't really know it and the gals are full of vim, vigor and sass.

Ms Sullivan did an excellent job of writing these accidental marriages. Each book has a distinct flavor with unique characters. The small town has people who are woven throughout each story that provide some continuity with the theme. I am definitely a fan and I will be reading more of Ms Sullivan's books. 😸😁

I first read these books individually and just HAD to one click when I saw they were in a box set. I mean, really all that hilarity and love in one set? I had to. Do yourself a favor and get this set. It is well worth it.

I read these books individually and love them, so I imagine getting them in a boxset would allow a great binge read feast.Accidentally Hitched - Viviana (Vivi) has lost her faith in people, and doesn't find Chicago quite as appealing as she use to, so she is moving back to her former home town to be closer to her Aunt Mae (who is more like a mother to her than her own was). She is unaware of who her new neighbour is though, it just as well because Nash was her crush when she was younger, and she still remembers his rejection. Maybe things have changed, because Nash is now a single father and Vivi now has more attractive curves than she did when she was younger. I loved Vivi and Nash who make a beautiful couple with great chemistry, and how their romance alters when they accidentally become married. I loved Nash's daughter Norah and Vivi's match making Aunt, who are both adorable characters.Accidentally Wed - Aunt Mae strikes again, this time she has Zeke and Maddie in her marriage target, while last time she targeted Nash and Viviana (in Accidentally Hitched). Zeke hasn't had any serious relationships, and he unfortunately mucked up with Maddie when he didn't put her first. Maddie doesn't want to be gossiped about in the small town they live in, she had enough of that when she was pregnant with her son Max, and the father decided not to be any help. Zeke wants to have Maddie back, but is he willing to go the distance to win her back? And will he continue to make mistakes with her heart? I loved Maddie, she is a hard working business woman, who has her own shop and a great mother to Max, at times I wasn't happy with what Zeke does, but he still seems to worm his way into your heart, so I ended up still loving him too.Accidentally Bound - Trish and Mason are strongly attracted to one another, but Mason is one of those guys that pulled the hair of the girl he liked the most, so strap in for some ribbing between these two. Trish doesn't think bad boy Mason (who does Tattoos for a living), would settle for her, so she is going to try and resist him and his hot body. Mason wants Trish, but he doesn't think a good girl will satisfy him, although maybe he has that wrong, possibly the right good girl with a hidden bad girl is just what he needs. I loved this humorous, fun couple and their beautiful romance, both of them were great to read about and captured my heart.Accidentally Wifed - Magenta has started to get attached to the small town called Belle Musique, it is full of some oddball but loving residents, and she has made some friends other than her brother. Her life is about to be stirred up, because Davis has come to town, and unbeknown to her, he is about to become her roommate. They got married about 18 months ago, but Magenta got itchy feet and escaped to Belle Musique. Will Davis fight to keep her this time? And will Magenta find the confidence in their relationship? I loved Davis, he is a hot Fireman who is kind, heroic and caring, what more could you need? I liked Magenta she is a snarky tattoo artist, but really does care about those around her, although she lacks some confidence in her worth. A worthy addition to the series.

I voluntarily previously reviewed the books in this set and have thoroughly enjoyed each one, I know the following aren't in order but I definitely suggest giving this a try.Accidentally WedThis is the second book in this series and can be read as standalone story. There are no cliffhangers and a delightful HEA.Maddie is a single mom to an adorable little boy, who is crazy about Zeke. But Zeke made a mess up and now Maddie wants nothing to do with him. Realising what he's lost he wants her back and luckily for him Aunty Mae has done her juju magic accidental marriage thing again..... but how many times can Zeke mess up before Maddie throws in the towel. This is a wonderful well-written story, filled with drama and emotion. Wonderful characters.Accidentally BoundThis Accidental Marriage series by Piper Sullivan just gets better and better. It's a fun to read enemies to lovers story, well-written with wonderful characters. The bad boy tattoo artist falls for the good girl baker, highly entertaining.Accidentally HitchedThis is a wonderful well-written friends to lovers story, Vivi is a strong independent woman who returns home after having a dreadful time with ex friends. Now her new neighbor is a sexy single dad to a sweet little girl and he's also her high school crush that she fled town from.They slowly regain their friendship and soon their hormones take over. But having been hurt before by close friends Vivi is caustic. Now they are accidentally hitched due to meddling Aunt Mae, and they have to see how and what they are going to do about this new situation.I loved this story, it's a heartwarming love story. The characters are amazingly charismatic and likable. Even loved the secondary characters.Accidentally WifedThis is another wonderful addition to the Accidentally series of stories, I loved how emotional and stubborn Magenta is, she feels deeply and keeps to her own, but with Davis she blooms. Their chemistry is sizzling and their relationship deepens over time after their accidental meeting a couple years after their quickie marriage.
